Students

Lakeside School accepts regular and special education students in grades 6–12 who need a small, structured and nurturing therapeutic environment where academic success is a priority. Student eligibility criteria include a willingness and ability to commit to following the structure of the program, basic skill levels above third grade and no need of physical intervention on a regular basis to maintain the safety of self and others.

The entire staff at Lakeside has been tremendously caring and accommodating to our son’s needs, and I’m so thankful for each of his teachers! It’s a rarity to have assembled so many people dedicated to achieving the best outcome for each student, and I hope you realize how appreciated you are! Special shout-out to Jordan, who has been a tremendous blessing to us as our son’s counselor. Her level of caring exceeds anything we’ve experienced, and I am beyond grateful he has her as an advocate. Also, a special shout-out to Jon, who has been an exceptional teacher in the greenhouse and has been incredibly kind and patient with our son.

Thank you to all the teachers, counselors and behavior managers for everything you do for our students! Thank you for your patience and for advocating for our children when they cannot advocate for themselves. Thank you for giving your time and energy to help our kids grow into better versions of themselves. I know it can’t be easy, but it is appreciated more than you know. When my girl started at Lakeside, she was in a bad place, and we were in a bad place as a family. I’m so proud of the growth she’s shown over the last few years. She’s come a long way from where she started, and I know she will continue to grow and flourish thanks to the coping skills she’s learned at Lakeside. Special thanks to Kristen for always being there for her, for listening to her and for always seeing the best in her even when I struggled to see it myself. We honestly don’t know what we’ll do without you. She has already told me to get her a counselor now, because she won’t be able to talk to Kristen every day after graduation.
